After School Program

Since 1976, the CYO has been operating an After School Program at our Trenton site for students enrolled in Kindergarten through Grade 7. Children must be no younger than 5 and no older than 12 years at the start of the program. Our caring and professional staff provide a program consisting of supervised athletic, educational, and recreational enrichment activities held during the after school hours (2:30 – 5:30pm). The program is closed on most major holidays, but remains opens on scheduled teacher conference half days. Subsidized Child Care is available for those who qualify. There is a limited number of non-subsidized and voucher (Child-Care Connection) slots available for those who do not use a state contracted subsidized slot.

.

Students’ daily lesson plans, guided by the yearly lesson plan, are adjusted weekly, to ensure compatibility with the individual student’s rate of progress.

Students are brought to the Academic Enrichment classroom at 3:15pm, so they can sign in and have a healthy snack prior to the beginning of the Academic Enrichment session.

Attendance is logged into the tracking system at the close of each class.

All student work is graded and placed in the student’s portfolio.  Students are tested regularly, with progress reports written, recorded and sent to parents monthly.

The coordinator and teachers are always available to speak with parents and students.  To facilitate this, an open house is held for parents, with refreshments and student files available for review, providing an opportunity to open a dialogue.

C.Y.O.’s Academic Enrichment program runs through the end of May.

C.Y.O.’s Academic Enrichment program has resulted in an average increase in student test scores of 57%.

For further information contact CYO Academic Enrichment Coordinator, Andrea Sirak at (609) 396-8383 x 22.
